YOUR 4WD

Should be in good mechanical condition, with high and low range capability. High clearance heavy duty suspension is recommended along with front and rear recovery points and cargo barrier for safety. We also recommend having top level road side recovery insurance such as RACQ Ultimate.

Fuel

Fuel stops can be located many hundreds of kilometres apart in the outback. You will need to carry enough fuel for a range of up to 800 kilometres for this tour. More information on how to calculate fuel requirements for your vehicle is provided in the tour pack.

Spares and Equipment

A second spare rim with tyre, although not essential, is a good precaution. Basic tools and some spares for your vehicle are handy to have as well. If you have your own recovery gear you should bring it with you. More information on essential gear and setup is available in the tour info pack.

Driver Experience

Prior 4WD experience is not neccessary, we will assist you every step of the way. This is your opportunity to learn more about how to drive your 4WD in offroad and remote areas from someone who has been doing it for decades. Professional guidence on 4WD technique and vehicle recovery (within limits) is included

Food and water

All our tours are self catered so you will need to bring your own food and cooking gear, however there should be many opportunities at a number of locations to dine at restaurants or purchase meals and supplies. In addition to your daily needs for food and water you will need to carry emergency supplies for 3 days including 20 litres of water per person.

Accomodation

Non-powered camping sites are included throughout this tour, however there may be opportunities to upgrade to a room subject to availability at certain locations. Offroad capable camper trailers are suitable to bring on this tour but will need to be left in camp when we do day trips to locations not suitable for trailers. Tents, swags and roof top tents are all suitable to use on this tour.
